I have my own preferred way of writing books — and I generally prefer to read books that are action, adventure, mystery and / or comedy.
Zander –
I am not against the idea for doing a crossover book between two of my series, but to cross multiple series at one would not work, I don;t think. (In fact, I am not even sure that crossing two series would work, which is why I haven’t done it yet.)
When you write books how long do you take for them for the ideas?
Andrew Carbo
I am generally working on the idea for a book for at least a year before I start writing it. Sometimes much longer than that.
PLEASE READ THIS. Hey Mr. Gibbs I am having a literal crash out because I’m on the last book of the Charlie Thorne series-which is the first of your books that I’ve ever read- and I love it. Finishing the last of Charlie’s adventures is actually making me freak out. Please Please PLEASE write another (or more) books in this series. I understand your very busy with your many other books your writing, and that writing the Charlie Thorne books take a lot more time, but also that you have an idea. I’m sorry for begging, but I need more of her adventures. I love her attitude , and how defiant she is toward authority, and yet at the same time, she’s a scared kid. Possible ideas for the hopefully next book of the series:
1. Betrayed by Dante, Milania, Eva (from college),
2. she is sucessfully kidnapped by an agency
3. The mossad and the Egyptian version that I forgot ñame of figure out Charlie was lying and that she did memorize pandora (and the recepte for the gold-making thing)
4. Her parents get a role in book, making yet another enemie for her
5. Dante and milania are hired by some gov agency (I just thought those books were far better)
6 . Dante and milania have a big falling out
7. The Furies turn out to be alive, and escaped prison, and seek revenge-and not only do they want pandora, but also the gold thing (i forgot what it’s called), and revenge r
8. Ivan (from the lost city) turn out to be alive, more enraged, and seeking revenge and pandora
9. Julia Carter, (who has gained trust of Dante, Milania, and Charlie), regains her position in CIA, and knows about all the team’s discoveries, she wants Charlie’s, and her memories, and plans of using the tactics that she was hiding from Dante in the lost city book to gain them ( and maybe, she re-hires Dante and milania, sorry, but I love the conflict of Dante trusting America, while Charlie doesn’t)
10. Issac Semmel gets fired from mossad, and goes roage(sorry, my spelling is horrible), and seeks Charlie’s secrets in hope of impressing Mossad officials and regaining his status and position)
11. Charlie is actually injured (all the books are interesting, and I know she’s only 13, but it’d be such a curveball if she was actuallly shot)
12. (I also loved how Charlie was able to trick Dante and milania and runs away, maybe they loose her trust and Charlie runs away
Thats all I got, in the end , your the author, but I was thinking if time was a concern, than more ideas could help motivate you to write another addicting Charlie thorn book (Also I’ve barely started the 4th book of the series, so sorry if you already included some of those ideas. thanks fo reading I REALLY hope that you write a 5th,(or preferably more than that) Addition to the series.

Hey Mr. Gibbs, I just finnished the last Charlie thorn book. I AM OBSESSED. Please Please Please Please write another CT book. I understand that it take a lot of time to research and write, but I promise it’ll be worth it to your many, many, many fans of the Ct series.
hey Mr. Gibbs, first off, I wanted to say that I am OBSESSED with the Charlie Thorne Books. I was just wondering if you plan on writing another. I hope that you do
Hey Mr Gibbs! I read on your FAQ that you love traveling to National Parks… if you haven’t been yet, Smokey Mountain National Park is gorgeous
Hey Stuart Gibbs! I love your books. I just had a few random questions for you…
1. What is your favorite book (not written by you)
2. What inspired you to write so many espianage books?
3. Why did you end MBA series?
4. Are there gonna be more CT books?
5. What made you want to become an author?
That’s all, thanks for reading
Hey Mr. Gibbs. I was wondering why /what significance the yellow streak on all the CT book covers serve
hey I love your books so much, I’m currently reading the Charlie Thorne series, I’m only on the beginning of the 3rd book, but from what I can tell, they’re so good! I love all the unexpected twists in the books. I especially love the sibling rivalry between Dante and Charlie, plus the whole crush thing with Dante and milania is brilliant.
BookLover –
I am thinking about writing another CT book, but am unsure whether or not I will be able to find the time to do that.

5) I have always loved writing and always dreamed of being an author
Quick Question –
The yellow streak is a design concept that was created by my cover designer. Lucy Cummins. I am not sure why she chose to add it; I suppose because it is visually interesting.
Hey Mr. Gibbs, (yes, I have read the FAQ, so sorry if I overlooked something). Anyways, I love reading. I feel like i’m very creative and have an active imagination. My problem is , however, that I’m worried that some of my ideas are just a merge of many books. I’m not asking for ideas, just wondering how to avoid this, and how to be more original. I want my book to be different, not just a whole lot of what everyone else has done. Also, my Fave genres are espionage and historical fiction, which is what I want to write about. The problem is though that I could probably write more on something I could relate to rather than either of these topics, plus I have school, so I can’t spend a lot of time researching.
Hey Mr. Gibbs. I love your Charlie thorne series. Ngl, I’m kindda crashing out rn having finished the 4th book on a clifhanger. Anyways, since I cannot take my mind off of Charlie, I figured I could draw her. My problem is though that the book doesnt describe her physical appearance very much. I was wondering how you thing she looks like?
Any suggestions?
Almost all art is based on other art. Think about how closely Harry Potter’s story parallels that of Luke Skywalker. (I’m not saying that JK Rowling copies George Lucas. Just that, at a certain point, all stories are going to overlap with others.) I’m not the only person to write a series at a Spy School; I just did my idea differently from other people. Don’t get hung up on all this. Just write the stories you want to write.
BookObsessedArtist –
If i had wanted to describe Charlie in more detail, then I would have done that in the book. However you imagine her is how she looks.
Okay, thank you Mr. Gibbs
Are your kids Violet and Dashiel (Sorry can’t spell) in MBA series and if you hadn’t become a author what would you be?

Yes, the children in the MBA series are based on my own children.
If I hadn’t been an author I would have been a field biologist.

Have you ever come up with a great idea for a book—started writing it, maybe even got a few chapters in—only to realize it wasn’t working at all, so you shoved it in a drawer where no one would ever see it again? It happens to me.

Hey Mr. Gibbs, I’m experiencing a “book hangover” from the Charlie Thorne series is, I loved it so much. taking a break from reading is not an option for me, but everything else I’ve tried seems dull by comparison . Any suggestions?
Hey Mr. Gibbs. So every single one of your series is loved,, but I was wondering, I, and a lot of other people, are obsessed with Charlie Thorne series. the reason you haven’t written another is because you don’t have the time. But you do have an idea. why don’t you just place a pause on other series to make time for Charlie?
Hey So are you ever going to write another CT books?
Andrew Carbo –
That happened to me a lot when I was younger, but after I started outlining my books, I never got stuck any more.
BookCrashOut –
If you want more books after Charlie, I have written lots of other books. I really can’t say what else is like Charlie out there for Middle grade readers. I wrote Charlie Thorne because I realized that was lacking.
NotTryingToBeRude
I can’t pause the other series because I like writing them and, frankly, they have larger readerships.

Galileo is a leading contender for CT5 — if i write it.

Dear Mr. Gibbs,
I hope this letter finds you well—and not currently under surveillance by any international intelligence agencies (though if you are, I expect you’ve only yourself to blame).
Let’s get to the point, shall we?
I’ve recently been made aware, through various “readers” of your books, that I have developed something of a reputation. A *mean* reputation. Words such as “cold,” “intimidating,” “terrifying,” and even “mean old dude” have been thrown around with disturbing frequency. Naturally, I reviewed the material in question (i.e., the *Spy School* series), and I have come to one conclusion:
**You made me this way.**
Yes, I’m talking to *you*, Stuart.
Why, I ask, did you decide that I, Cyrus Hale—former MI6 agent, master of espionage, fluent in more languages than most people have teeth—should come across as a grumpy, humorless disciplinarian? I mean, sure, I may be a bit stern. And demanding. And perhaps I once threatened to dismember a student with a letter opener (though let’s be honest, it was a *teaching moment*). But still—”mean”?
You had every opportunity to present me as a charming rogue with a mysterious past. A gentleman spy. Perhaps even a father figure with a heart of gold hidden beneath a Kevlar vest. Instead, you gave me “scary uncle who probably hides booby traps in his kitchen” energy.
I train future spies, Stuart. I do not coddle them. If Benjamin Ripley can’t handle a little sarcasm and a few life-or-death missions, perhaps he should have joined chess club instead. And yet *I* get labeled the villain for insisting on discipline and basic situational awareness?
But fine. I accept my role. Every story needs a stern mentor. Just know this:
If you *ever* have me slip on a banana peel, dance embarrassingly at a school function, or show *emotion*, I will personally rappel out of your books, find your laptop, and delete the next ten chapters.
With all due respect (and several hidden weapons),

HI MR GIBBS
I am a big fan of your Spy School Series. My fav one is Spy School goes Wild. Its soooo funny when Murray has to drink elephant poop and Ben finds the water bottle right after. I have a few random questions that I would like to ask you:
1. Who is the guy on the cover on every spy school book
2. What is the next Spy School going to be called
3. What was your fav spy school book to write
I am interested in the second question, although you might say that you do not want to spoil it.

Erica_Hale_Fan_
1) The character on the cover is simply called ‘Spy Guy’ at my publisher. Spy Guy is not supposed to be any character in particular. It could shift from book to book.
2) I do not know the title of the next book. I don’t come up with titles until I am done writing, so there may not be a title for several months.
3) I do not have a favorite SS book. I spend too much time working on all of them to feel that one is better than the others.
Dear Mr. Gibbs, would you consider making a crossover book with James Ponti and the City Spies?
Aden Hale –
I am very close friends with James Ponti — and we have both decided that writing a crossover between our series would be incredibly difficult. Our styles are very different; our worlds are very different; and we both have so many characters that it is hard to give them all time in our own series. So a crossover is not in the works.
Dear Mr. Gibbs,
I love Charlie Thorne so much. Please write another, I am begging you. I know you can’t find the time, but any chance you could make the time? You’ve already officially ended the MBA series, and the Last musketeer, so doesn’t that mean that you have even more time to write??? if you’re struggling with ideas, A book abt Galeo, Marie Curry, or Nicola Tesla could be good stories. I’m Really sorry for bothering you, thanks for reading. I really hope you find the time to write/ reasearch for the next awesome and addicting adventure of Charlie.
