  1. Jay –

I, like just about every other author, do now create the covers of my books. They are designed by the incredibly talented Lucy Cummins.

  2. Dear Mr. Gibbs,

I wanted to ask you if you would be ok if I wrote an adaptation of Spy School as a play. Only the kids in my neighborhood would be performing it, and I would not charge for tickets, or concessions. I LOVE your books, they make me feel really happy.

(PS. I am using my school computer to write this, and I can’t use my school email address, so I used my moms)

(PPS You are my FAVORITE author )

  3. Hudson –

If you look in the Upcoming Releases box on every page of this website, you will find the answer to your question.

  4. Charlotte Hewitt –

You are more than welcome to write a play version of SS just for fun. That sounds wonderful.

  5. 1. why don’t you put killing or death in the spy school series?

    2. could you use my name as a character in the spy school series?

    3. i just wanted to say i am a BIG fan of yours and have read every book in the spy school series.

  6. mr jefferson –

    1) I don’t put killing or death in my books because they are supposed to be fun, escapist fiction for young readers.

    2) Please read my FAQ page

    3) Thanks!

  7. i personally i think you should put death and killing into your books for more action plus the average young reader plays war video games which often include violence like that, which in theory means most kids have seen us much in game death as wwII veterans have seen in reel life.

P.S (to WWII veterans) thank you for your service.

  8. anonymous –

Just because kids are exposed to death and killing in video games and other places doesn’t mean that such things would work in my books. I don’t avoid them because I am worried about exposing kids to them. I avoid them because I think it’s tonally inconsistent with the series.

  9. Mr. Gibbs,

I grew up with your books and it really helped me learn and transition from my native language to English. I read all of your books up until 2018 (and recently discovered some so I’m going to get caught up!) and I just wanted to say you are an incredible author and that reading your books was the highlight of my day in elementary school.

    Thank you so much!
    Yulia

  10. Yulia –

Thanks for your kind words! I am flattered to learn that my books helped you transition to English!

  11. Dear Mr. Gibbs,
I was wondering what does Teddy look like in your Funjungle books? I know that you’ve said you want the readers to imagine the characters for themselves, but you described Summer in your books.
Also I know you don’t take suggestions from your readers(and no hard feelings if you can’t use this one) but I was wondering on your last books for Funjungle and Spy school you could maybe at the very end add an epilogue on what happens to the characters later in life when they’ve all grown up.

    Thank You!

P.S. Big fan of your books animals and spies are my top favorite things.

  12. MR. Gibbs I know you don’t take suggestions from readers but i think i have a good one for the spy school series. So i was re-reading the spy school series and was reading spy school goes south and an idea hit me what if ” Adam Zaremybok ” betrayed the C.I.A because they thought he was a mole for SPYDER.

  13. Olyvia Watkins –

Yes, I described Summer, because teddy described her from his perspective, but I still stand by my decision to not describe Teddy. However you imagine him is what he looks like.

I am not sure if I will use an epilogue to end either of those series. I will have to make that decision when I am writing the last books.

  14. Mr Gibbs do you think focusing more on the school side of spy school would make the series feel more realistic or take away from what makes it exciting? Thanks

  15. Agent X

The reason that I have started to focus more on the missions in SS is because I felt that school would cease to be interesting and that the missions would be more fun.

  16. Thanks for the reply Mr Gibbs. I also want to ask if you plan multiple books’ plots ahead of time or do it as you go?

  17. Agent X –

I work out the plots for all my books ahead of time, sometimes years ahead.

  18. Also nice work on SSB! I really liked the part where [REDACTED] happened! I also liked [CONFIDENTIAL] and [REDACTED FOR YOUR SAFETY}

  19. Hello Stuart Gibbs, I absolutely love your books! I haven’t read the fun jungle series, half of the spy school series and the last space case book. I don’t know how the third book ends but I really am hoping to get a fourth one. Also, your website page kind of looks like the CIA kids page. (I actually don’t know what many websites look like, but yours is the closest to the CIA kids page) also, I know the academy of espionage isn’t real but it would be really cool if it was. I know you really really really don’t like taking ideas but what if you made a book about someone else’s perspective, like Erica or Mike or Zoe? Also if I ran a movie company I would’ve made a spy school movie already. But I don’t. I’m really disappointed that Disney said they couldn’t make it because it was about kids being in danger??!?!? EVERY SINGLE MOVIE IS ABOUT SOMEONE BEING IN SOME KIND OF DANGER. And nobody dies anyways!!!! Also if you do make a movie, I would like to audition for Erica hale. It’s really funny because I have a friend named Zoe and I imagine the Zoe in the book as my friend. Like I said, I only read half of the spy school series and I don’t know how things go but it’s clear that Ben belongs with Erica and Zoe belongs with Mike. I know Mike is dating Trixie in the book, but I think Zoe and Mike have a lot in common. It would also be cool if there was an animated series of spy school. Also I got an A in history class, the question was asking about what was written on that one tree. I knew what it was because I studied, but I couldn’t remember what it was called. But then I remembered the spy school:revolution and I got the question right! Sorry for saying a lot of things ………. Bye.

(PS: your secret about the CIA is safe with me)

  21. johnB –

I presume that SPYDER developed it — but they could have stolen the tech as well.

  22. Oakley Paige –

Thanks for your kind words. I really feel that the reason that Spy School works is because of Ben’s POV and that it might be jarring to switch perspective so late in the series.

If the movie gets made — and there are open auditions — then I will post about them on my blog.

I am glad to hear that I helped you on your history test.

  23. mr jefferson –

To be honest, I am not really sure what to do with that idea. The whole Adam Zarembok thing was a very small point in a book that was written several years ago. It’s so obscure I almost forgot about it myself. So I am not sure that’s enough to hang a story on.

  24. Hello Mr. Gibbs
    I have 3 questions
1)In SS 14 is it going to be called something like family trap where all the Hales get captured and Zoe, Mike, and Ben have to thwart there plans?
2)Are you related to someone named Kayden Gibbs he is in 6 grade and lives in nyc?
3)How many Books of SS are you going to write (estimate)

  25. Yousef Barakat –

    1) The title of SS14 will be revealed soon, and it is not ‘Family Trap.’

    2) As far as I know, I am not related to anyone named Kayden Gibbs in NYC.

    3) I estimate that there will be somewhere between 10-20 FJ books.

  26. Hi,
I saw the in Blackout you teamed with some CIA experts. Are aliens real?
Btw where do you like to write and how do you start a new book.
    Thanks,
    Elaine

  27. Mr. Gibbs, please make more graphic novels. Also I just read your book “Blackout” and I loved it. When will your next book be coming out? I have also read most of your FunJungle series and loved that too. Please make more of them. One more thing, will there be a spy school movie?

  28. Elaine –

Of course aliens are real. There are billions of planets. Statistically, there must be life on some of them. But has that life visited us here? I doubt it.

I write in my office at my home.

I start a new book by brainstorming ideas for at least a year.

  29. Eli Heath

All Upcoming Release information is posted in the Upcoming Releases box on every page of this website.

There will be a new FJ book next March.

I am doing everything I can to get a SS movie made.

  30. Hi,
I was also wondering how you think of the plot for Charlie Thorn books, they are very complicated but absolute genius. Do you star from the beginning or have many ideas you create into one book.
    Thanks,
    Elaine

  31. Mr. Gibbs,

In Spy School British Invasion, there is a reveal that the leader of SPYDER has a backstory intertwined with SPOILER REMOVED. Yet, they hardly interact with SPOILER REMOVED at all. Why is this?

  32. Elaine Li –

For Charlie, I start with a historical figure and what they might have invented. Then I do a lot of research. I have to read at least one biography on that figure to see if I can come up with a good story invilving them, and then I have to research all sorts of other stuff. It takes a really long time to work out a Charlie plot.

  33. Ptolemy –

I always write a scene the way I feel it works best. There were certainly other things I could have done, but the version I wrote was what I liked the best.

  34. Mr Gibbs,

    1. In spy ski school does Erica really like mike or is Erica right,It could be secret, but I don’t know for sure

    2. There should be a spy school book called”spy school birthday “and it is about Ben’s birthday but Murray Hill is taking his friends so Ben has too get him back.

    PS. You’re my favorite author

PSS. I pre-ordered spy school secret service the graphic novel

  35. Dear, Mr. Gibbs when will post what the cover and name of Spy School book #14 and when will you be able to pre-order it.

    From: Hudson Louis

  36. Brett R –

    1) If you have read all of SSS it ought to be evident who Erica really likes. (Given the very end.)

    2) While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I can’t really accept ideas from readers.

  37. Hudson Louis –

I am not sure when I will post the cover and when pre-order will be available. Some point in the next month or two, I suppose.

  38. dear mr gibbs i forgot to ask but is it alright if i use flapjack frenzy (the game the principle in the SS series plays) in my books. (please reply)

  39. Moe Lester –

It is possible that, eventually, I might write a book targeted at older readers, but I really enjoy writing middle grade and know that many people who grow up reading my books continue to read them as they get older.

  40. Timothy C –

Anything that I have created in my books is technically my intellectual property. If you are writing fanfiction for fun, you can borrow things I have created, but if you are writing for profit, then you really ought to make up your own game,

  41. Hiiii
do you have a favorite book sierse or book? I really liked Moon base alpha, both the book and the graphic novel. (I appoligis for my speeling) You are my favorite auther!|
