I think most professional writers want this job because we actually enjoy writing. If I got tired or bored of it, then it wouldn;t be the job for me.

  2. Can you send me the CDS to every book you have made because I am making a library in my house, and you are an author favorite here is addres 1075 bayswater drive heamptead manor union ky

The way an author makes money is by SELLING books, not giving them away. First oif all, I don;t get the CDs for free. I have to buy them. If I gave free CDs or books to everyone who asked, I would go bankrupt and not be able to write any more books.

  4. pavin –

I think that very few people have CD players any more so CD versions stopped selling.

  5. Tim –

Another series is possible some day. If I have news about that, I will certainly post about it on my blog.

  6. Can you pls do a second space case book it’s my favorite book

Also btw I love your books they’re so interesting

  7. Anna ?

You mean a second Moon Base Alpha graphic novel? That’s coming next summer.

(But if you’re looking for the book that is the sequel to Space Case, that was published back in 2014. Spaced Out. You can find it in the ‘Books’ page on this website.)

  8. Hi! I was wondering- are you planning to start any new book series? I’ve been in love with the Spy School ones, (super original, I know) and I enjoy the other ones as well!

  9. Aaliyah S –

I might start a new series, but to do that, I would have to end one of my other series (if not more than one). If that happens, I will post about it on my blog.

  10. Hi,
Are you worried that you will run out of ideas?
Also are you friends with James Ponti, because he mentions you and your family in some of his books.
Do you believe that humans can one day build a kinda bad base on the moon?

  11. Elaine –

No, I am not worried that I will run out of ideas.

I am extremely good friends with James Ponti.

I believe that humans will build a moon base some day, and that the first one won’t be nearly as cool as space bases always look in the movies. But we might build a nice one. Some day.

  12. Also will there be a new Charlie Thorne book?
How do you get ideas and when do you like to write stories, have you ever written a book put never published it because you thought the idea was bad?
*I really like all your book *:)

  13. Hi Stuart,

The narrators for the audio versions of your books, and the illustrators for the graphic novels are quite good. Do you select them yourself?

  14. Elaine –

    There could be another CT.

If I get all the way through writing a book, I am not going to think it is bad. I couldn’t put that much time into something that I didn’t like. If I thought something was bad, I probably wouldn;t get more than a chapter into it.

  15. Michael –

I don’t select the narrators or the artists on my own, although sometimes i have some say in the selection. (Not always though.)

  16. Thank you
Also what is your schedule like? I see that you usually answer the blog at 10:00 pm or later
    Thanks

  17. Hi Stuart,

I’ve been a huge fan of your spy school novels for a quite long time now. And one question I’ve always wondered was if you find Gibson’s voices for the characters to be close to how you imagine their voices. For example their way they speak when exasperated, happy, or when they are being satirical.

  18. elaine –

I work during the day and then, if I have time, I try to respond to comments and email. I don;t think there’s any real pattern to it though.

  19. Bastian –

This may seem strange but… I have no vision of what the characters sounded like at all. Which turns out to be very common with authors. Gibson was always free to do the characters however he wanted to. I would never have told him ‘No, that’s wrong. Teddy doesn’t sound like that.’

  20. Hi,
I was wondering in some of your books you have incredible knowledge of the animals or places that occur. I was wondering how long does it usually take to research the place or animal and do other people help you?
    Thanks

  21. Elaine –

It can take quite a bit of time to do all the research. I try to visit the places that I want to write about and talk to experts about those animals, but I do have people help me do the research as well.

  22. I loved your Charlie Thorne book series and I would love it if you added a 5th book. It is my favorite series but I like Spy School and Moon Base Alpha a lot too. Also can you add more spy school books too? I love your books! You are my favorite author!
    Thank you.

  23. Ethan –

I am doing my best to write as many books as possible, but there are limits on my time and creativity. Since it takes me much longer to werite a CT book than any of the others, I might not be able to write a fifth (even though I would like to). There are definitely going to be more SS books though.

All upcoming releases are listed on every page of this website.

  24. pavin –

I can’t really detail my entire writing process because it’s rather long.

Basically, I generate ideas through curiosity and investigation, then brainstorm, research and outline over a year or so. When i’m finally ready to write, I spend 3-6 months on the first drafts, and then will return to the project to do another ten drafts over the next twelve months.

  25. Hello,
I really enjoy your books and I love the suspense and drama that you put into your books. I think your style of writing is really funny. I really enjoyed the action in the Charlie Thorne books thus, I was quite upset when I heard that you wouldn’t be writing another one. I really, really, really hope that you might consider writing another one. Even if you don’t, I’d like to know what happens to her next.
P.S, I have a cousin who also really enjoys your books and we both can’t wait for the next spy school book.

  26. Crex –

I have not officially ended the series but am having a hard time finding the time to write any more.

  27. Hi Mr. Gibbs!
I’m a really big fan of Spy School — thank you for the amazing books! I was rereading Spy School British Invasion and had a question.
How and why did Joshua Hallal steal the information from SPYDER (on the flash drive)? Did he really just want to use the stolen info as leverage, or was he trying to take down SPYDER and overtake Mr. E? I just want to understand why he betrayed SPYDER.
Also, how did Mr. E know where the flash drive was stored?
    Thank you!

  28. DR –

Please realize that you are asking about the minutiae of a book that I wrote around seven years ago, so the details of the story are not that fresh ion my mind. I believe that the idea was that Joshua wanted to actually take down SPYDER.

I suppose that Mr. E, being a criminal mastermind with spies everywhere, somehow figured out where the flash drive was stored.

I would recommend that you read my blog post about why I can’t answer certain questions.

  29. Mr. Gibbs
Have you ever had finished writing one of your books then you publisher says no?

    -Andrew Carbo

  30. Andrew Carbo

When an author writes a book, we are constantly working with our editors throughout the process, so a book would never get to the finished stage without the editor or publisher seeing it.

And yes, Harrison Ford would be great as Cyrus.

  31. Andrew carbo –

Are you asking which actors i would like to play the roles?

I haven’t put any thought into this at all. There is not point until there is a movie ready to film — and even then, it is the casting director who makes that decision, not me.

  32. Oh no I didn’t mean that I just meant that if their were to be a film for Spy School what would your actors for Erica and Ben like just for a fun idea

  33. Andrew Carbo –

What would I want the actors to look like? I wouldn’t go into casting imagining the look of the actor first. I would want to cast the best possible actors, no matter what they look like.

  34. If Daniel Radcliffe was still a choice I would pick him for Ben and I think Lin-Manuel Maranda would be great for Alexander Hale and Iain Armitage would be good for Murray

  35. Hi, I was just wondering how many more spy school books you were going to write, and how would you like for it to end?

  36. Sam –

I do not know how many SS books there will be.

I am going to keep how it ends a secret until it ends.

  37. Stuart,
I would love it if Dashiell meets Charlie Thorne with Alex, Erica, and Ben

As a Collab of books merging together as the ultimate Charlie Thorne 5 book with perspectives of all
Charlie Thorne meets Spy kids, Spy School with Charlie Thorne, and Space with Charlie and spy kids.
