Here are the books that are coming in 2026

Hi all!  2026 is going to be a big year!

First up, on March 24, 2026 there’s the newest book in the FunJungle series, Ape Escape.

When a baby gorilla is stolen from an orphanage in Rwanda, Teddy, his parents, and an old family friend find themselves in a race against time to save it. Teddy has to piece together clues to figure out where the little ape is being taken while traveling through some of the most incredible—and dangerous—terrain in the world.

At the same time, he’s long-distance consulting with Summer to help solve another mystery back at FunJungle. Between facing down lions on the Serengeti and chasing poachers through the bazaars of Zanzibar, will Teddy be able to find the baby gorilla before it’s too late?

I’m pleased to announce that, once again, there will be an exclusive edition of this one available from Barnes & Noble, featuring an exclusive jacket, an annotated map of—plus bonus content that features Teddy’s safari checklist, fun animal facts and more!

Next up, on April 28… Spy School Secret Service, the Graphic Novel!

The New York Times bestselling Spy School series continues in graphic novel form with the fifth book as Ben Ripley goes undercover in the White House to take on a SPYDER operative determined to assassinate the president.

This will also have an exclusive edition at Barnes & Noble! It featuresan exclusive cover with shiny red foil, plus a double-sided, pull-out poster of Washington D.C. and Ben’s highlights of The White House!

And those are not the only books coming out in 2026.

There will also be the fourteenth Spy School novel in the fall (although I am not ready to share details  — and it does not even have a title yet).

And there may be another book coming late in the year, although the details about that must remain classified for now.

However, keep checking this website for details!  There’s much more to come!

  1. hi,
if you turn 67 years old, would you consider doing the 67 dance?
also, have you ever had a stalker or a crazy fan interaction?
how long does it typically take you to respond to all questions in the morning? has it become a tiresome part of your routine or a comforting old habit?
    thanks,

By the time I turn 67 years old, I imagine people will be looking back at the whole 6-7 thing and thinking, ‘Thank goodness we stopped doing that.’

I have never had a stalker interaction, although I have had many pleasant interactions with fans.

Most mornings, it only takes a few minutes to answer all the electronic correspondence. It takes much longer to deal with physical fan mail.

  3. Stuart,

I read your Charlie Thorne series and I thought it was amazing! The puzzle solving, the plot, the crush that ***** has on ****** (No spoilers) made it an amazing story! I have all four of the books and I love them all.

But recently you have not shown any interest or excitement on a fifth Charlie Thorne book, will there ever be one? Or will you leave it at the fourth book.

    Let me know soon!

    Best,

    TimmyTuffKnuckles

  4. hello Mr. Gibbs. You are my favorite author ever!! Next is Rick Riordan By the way what’s your favorite ice cream flavor and favorite city anywhere in the world.

  5. TimmyTuffKnuckles –

Glad you enjoyed CT. I do have interest in writing a fifth CT — but perhaps not the time to do it.

  6. ProPeanutButter

I have many flavors of ice cream that I like.

And there are a lot of cities that I enjoy visiting, but I suppose my favorite city is probably Los Angeles, because that is where i have chosen to live.

  7. Hey Mr. Gibbs , it is your fellow fan and I am extremely excited this year for your upcoming books and also REALLY excited for your SS book this year . I can’t wait to read all of your new books ! Have a wonderful day and tell James Ponti I said hi . You guys both are amazing authors .

  8. Stuart,

I love your books, and I was wondering if you could come to my school in the future.

    thanks

  9. Hi Shahraan –

For me to visit your school, I have to be invited by your school. Please direct your librarian to the School Visits page on this website for information about how to arrange that.

  10. Hey!!! How are you doing today and are there any updates about the SS movie or the NEW book???? Well that’s all ! bye !

  11. Zyrah –

I am doing fine, thanks. I promise that when there are updates, I will post about them.

  12. Hello Mr Gibbs!
Which zoo inspired you to create the FunJungle zoo? Are you gonna make a graphic novel of the FunJungle series? By the way, I love all your books, I almost read them all!

  13. Ivy

Many different parts of different zoos inspired FunJungle, like the San Diego Safari Park, the Bronx Zoo, the Seattle Zoo and the Columbus Zoo (among others).

I hope that there will be FJ GNs but that decision is really up to my piblisher.

  14. Hello Mr. Gibbs,

Are you ever going to make an SS book where the villains win? I just think that it’s extremely unrealistic that Ben and his friends always win. I think it’ll be interesting to see the bad guys win for once.

    Sincerely,
    Noah

  15. Noah –

My books, like lots of books and movies, are about escapism, not reality. It does not sound like a lot of fun to me to read a book where the detective fails to solve a mystery or the bad guys win. There are plenty of sad stories in real life. I prefer to write stories where the heroes succeed.

  16. Hello Mr Gibbs! I hope you know you have a VERY amazing fandom on tumblr with the best art yet ^__^ your fans are extremely dedicated lol

  17. Just saying I read all the spy school series in 2 weeks and don’t really like waiting a year for the other books. Is it really necessary to publish it in that exact date. Why can’t you publish it the second you finish it

  18. Anonymous –

I can’t publish a book the second that I finish it for a few reasons.

    1) I am not a wizard. I cannot just print books magically. I need a printing press to do that. Printing costs money and takes a lot of time. Plus, there are only so many printing presses in the world, and they need to be scheduled far in advance.

    2) There is much more to a book than just me writing it. It needs to be laid out and designed and a cover needs to be made.

    3) Once books are printed, they still need to get to stores. That requires ships and trains and trucks and takes a lot of time as well.

    4) There is also marketing to consider. Thousands of books are released every year. Perhaps hundreds of thousands. So release dates are scheduled far in advance so that stores know when the books are going to show up, so that they can make sure they have enough copies for everyone and shelf space to display the books.

    5) Finally, SS14 is not done yet. I still have revisions to make, and will probably be tweaking the book until the last second possible, before it needs to go to press.

So I’m not just sitting on a finished draft, thinking, “Mwah-ha-ha-ha, I’m going to make everyone wait for eight months to read this.’ My publisher and I are actually working as fast as we can to get the books to readers. A one year gap between 60,000 word books in a series might seem like a long time to you, but in the publishing industry, that’s about as tight as it gets.

  19. Dear Mr Gibbs, I’m a huge fan of your work. I started Belly Up in October and now reading All ears. I’m sooo excited for Ape Escape! But I have a question for you, where do you get your ideas from? Also I think you are amazing and an excellent writer

  20. Tess Rooney

On my FAQ page, I explain where the ideas for my different series came from.

  21. Hi! I’m a big fan of every one of your books, but I’m wondering when there will be another Charlie Thorne book coming out in the series, because I REALLY like the series and I’m really hoping you’ll come out with another one soon! (Possibly 2026??)

    Thank you!!

  22. mmag –

Unfortunately, there are not plans for another CT in 2026.

Whether or not there will be another book in the series is still undetermined.

  23. Hello Mr. Gibbs,
Piggybacking off of Noah’s comment have you thought of doing a two parts book for an idea in the SS series? For example, leaving us on a cliffhanger for the first book and the second book finishes it. Of course the good guys can win as that’s what you like to write but I think the suspense and new idea could be positive on the series.

  24. Lucas –

Some people would probably argue that I have done something like that, where one plot line ends but another crops up, indicating that the story isn’t quite over. (Such as in, most recently, Blackout.)

But I don’t really like the idea of ending a book only halfway through a story and then forcing everyone to wait a year to get the second half. That doesn’t seem particularly nice to me.

In addition, it seems unkind to people who get their reading material from libraries, as their library might not end up stocking both halves of the book.

(Confession: I did do this in the Last Musketeer series, but much of that was due to the publisher wanting three books in rapid succession. So if you really want that experience, you could always check out those books.)

  25. what us the name of the new ss book becuase i love the book. but will they ever be a book where the cia coneects with another gov other than the m16

  26. Aneesh –

The reason I have not said what the title of SS14 is…. I have not given the book a title yet. Once I do have a title, I promise that I will post about it and stop referring to it as ‘SS14.’

It is certainly possible that the team will coordinate with over governments.

  27. Hello Mr.Gibbs,
I am writing to inquire about the Spy School Entrance Exam, multiple times it tells if we succeed in solving the puzzles, we are to officially become a student at spy school, except this puzzle book was made after spy school got destroyed so how would that be a possibility.

  28. Anonymous –

Different people read the books at different times. Spy School is written to feel current at any time that you read it. And if you have continued to read the series, you know that the physical spy school might have been destroyed, but the classes still continue.

  29. Dear Mr. Gibbs,

I have greatly enjoyed reading your books. I’ve been reading them since I was about 9, and am now 13. I find your books are great sources of entertainment. What are your favorite books or book series?

  30. Hi Mr Gibbs, I know there’s a release date for Spy School 14 but is there a release date for the title or cover? If so what’s the date?

  31. Anish –

I do not have a release date for the title or cover yet. When i have a title and cover, I will post about it.

  32. Dear Mr. Gibbs,

My name is Fatima. I am a ten-year-old secret agent in training and a big fan of Spy School, even though it’s for teenagers. I can read and understand your books really well.
I hope there will be a Spy School movie someday. Could you also please add more Spy School books to Kindle Kids?
Thank you for writing such great books.
    Secretly yours,
    Agent Fatima ?????

P.S. Please tell me when Spy School book 14 is coming out, and the name if you can. I promise to keep it sec

  33. Hi Mr.Gibbs , it is Zyrah again. (I know I am kind of a bug) but I had a dream about the book for SS 14 . And the cover was camouflaged with the spy student standing like the first book. And the title was ” secret of the …. ” I didn’t really get to remember and see but um that was an interesting dream to have. And I hope you have a great day and I also hope you are doing well.

  34. Rog –

I would love for there to be FJ GNs but that is up to my publisher who is focused now on the SS and MBA GNs.

  35. Agent Fatima –

I am pretty sure that I responded to this comment on another page already but…

As far as i know, all of my books are on Kindle (if not Kindle Kids).

The title for SS14 will be release sometime in the next few months. The release info for all books is in the Upcoming Releases box on every page of this website.
