The exclusive edition of Spy School Blackout is now available to pre-order!!

Once again, I have partnered with Barnes & Noble to create an exclusive edition of one of my books — which is only available at those bookstores.

What do you get with it? Let’s start with the book jacket: it is specially-designed, with a free, exclusive poster on the inside.

I have also written plenty of bonus content for the book itself: sixteen extra pages of fun stuff that will add to the story (and hopefully make you laugh a bit too).

And how much more will this all cost you? Not one extra cent! The exclusive editions is the exact same price as the regular book.  So why not get it?

PS. I know I am not saying much about what is actually in the sixteen pages of bonus content. That’s because explaining it might spoil the rest of the book. So please please please don’t write to ask me what’s in it. It’s won’t be able to tell you. You’ll just have to see it for yourself when you get the book.

  1. Alvin –

I am pleased to hear that you are still reading the books in college! I get that without SPYDER the books have less of a connective plot — but I felt that keeping SPYDER in the series would get repetitive. As you noted, it takes some work to make sure that I’m not doing the same thing over and over, so the ability to shift from one adventure to the next facilitates that. There is a bit of an outline for future books, but it is constantly changing.

I would argue that there are plenty of spy series that have used this model. (i.e. James Bond). There is much precedent for books where the spy (or spy team) is taking on one enemy at a time. That said, another evil organization could arise at some point.

Thanks for your kind thoughts about the book — and my wife as well.

As for your notes, yes, the characters have changed. I feel that you need to see them grow, or else the books will all feel very static. For example, I could only play out a love triangle for so long before it would feel repetitive.

  3. Hey! Quick question- When are you releasing a Book 2 of “Bruce Wayne: Not Super”? I really liked the graphic novel bc I’m nerdy like that~

  4. Mr. Gibbs,

I just read SSB and I absolutely enjoyed it. I noticed it had a specific aesthetic to it that would definitely be appealing if it were made into a movie. The actions carried the book and of course, the small moments between Ben and Erica. I must also mention Trixie. I loved how her character was built throughout the story and as someone who has an older sister, I knew exactly how she felt and found myself feeling drawn to her. It was like even though I understood our situation is completely different, the emotions and the principle is what was similar. All that aside though, I genuinely adored the sisterly bond that was displayed by her and Erica. It’s a new depth I never knew I needed more of.

And out of everything, It’d be a crime to not bring up Erica’s mentality. It intensified the book for me a lot and I found myself loving her even more which already have me excited about the next book. Like, I can’t imagine the lengths she will go to in the following book after that ending and it’s genuinely a punishment having to wait another year for that.

I personally would rate this book a 5 out of 5. It had an touch of the older books and I would encourage anyone who hasn’t copped it yet to get it asap… and pressure Mr. Gibbs into releasing the next one wayy early just for that ending.

  8. Hello, Mr. Gibbs.

I am a huge fan of your books and they inspired me to love reading. Quick question: where do you get the ideas for your titles? Do you come up with them, or does your publisher?

If you are incapable of answering for whatever reason, that is fine too. By the way, does it offend you that I used an adjective to modify a verb in my name?

Book titles may be the only part of a book that I don’t write. Occasionally, I know what I want to call a book from the very beginning (Spy School; Space c]Case). Most of the time, the title comes very late in the process. Then, it night be something i have come up with along the way, or it might be something a friend has suggested, or it might be something the publisher has suggested.

I am not offended by adjectives modifying verbs, if it is dome cleverly enough.
