Many people have been asking me about this book over the past few months, so I am happy to finally be able to share some information about it with you. (It took some time for everyone at my publisher to agree on a title and cover.)
Anyhow, here’s the cover, created, as usual, by the amazing Lucy Cummins::
And here’s the synopsis:
When a baby gorilla is stolen from an orphanage in Rwanda, Teddy, his parents, and an old family friend find themselves in a race against time to save it. Teddy has to piece together clues to figure out where the little ape is being taken while traveling through some of the most incredible—and dangerous—terrain in the world.
At the same time, he’s long-distance consulting with Summer to help solve another mystery back at FunJungle. Between facing down lions on the Serengeti and chasing poachers through the bazaars of Zanzibar, will Teddy be able to find the baby gorilla before it’s too late?
The book will be released on March 24, 2026. Although if you would like to preorder it, you can do that by clicking here.

Hello Stuart Gibbs,
My son wants to meet you- will you do any books signings or visits at the library/bookstores anywhere in NYC soon? Thanks
Mansi –
I do not have any NYC signings planned at the moment. For future reference, upcoming events are listen in the Upcoming Events box on every page of this website. Perhaps I will make it to NYC in the spring.
Hi gib
I really love your fun jungle series and I am wondering how many fun jungle books are you planning to write after ape escape if so when will the others release?
(I am writing from my fathers phone)
Liibaan –
I do not know how many FJ books there will be and therefore don’t have the slightest idea when they will release. I can’t plan things out that far ahead.
Also, for the record, my name is not gib.
Hello Dear stuart, I really Like your books cuz they have a little of everything like romance, action, comedy and all those other things that make a book great! And I have a question:Which animal in the FunJungle series was the most fun (or most challenging) for you to write about, and why? and also do you think you can do a collab with any other authors to write a book (like Gordon korman and Rick rodrian) Both I have read books written buy them. THanks for Spending your time answering my questions!!
Jack –
Generally, for FJ books, it has been the most fun to research the animals that I can interact the most with at zoos. The zoo I researched Big Game at allowed me to interact with the rhinos there and i was allowed some interaction with elephants as well for All Ears. Meanwhile, for the upcoming Ape Escape, I was able to visit gorillas in the wild and get staggeringly close to them. (You can’t approach them, but if a gorilla decides to approach you, they can do that.)
As for collaborating with another author — that is an exceptionally difficult thing to do, especially when you don’t know the other author. (I have never met Rick Riordan, although I am good friends with Gordon Korman.)
Hello! I have a question: Who’s your Fav Author (other then yourself) and do you regret anything about the spy school series? and which book of the SS series is your Fav (mine is book 2!) and also who is your fav character from SS (Mine is Mike!) Thanks!
Jack –
I don;t think any author would say that they are their own favorite author. I like Ellen Raskin, Shel Silverstein, Douglass Adams, Carl Hiaasen, Michael Crichton and many others.
I do not have a favorite, series, book or character. I have worked too hard on all of them to say that I like one more (or less) than any other.
I LOVE YOUR BOOKS READING CHARLIE THORNE AND THE CURSE OF CLEOPATRA I wish I could have all of your books
Mr. Gibbs you and your books are awesome!
Dear Mr. Gibbs,
In “Tyrannosaurus Wrecks” did you give a nod to the Charlie Thorne Book “Curse of Cleopatra”? Because in “TW” it says, “Sage’s mother’s horse, Cleopatra”
Just curious as it was something I noticed.
~ KS
KS –
I actually named the horse Cleopatra long before I knew I was going to write a CT book about Cleo.
Can you make a spinoff series of FJ?
Abhishek Paul –
I am not planning a spinoff of any of my series at this time. I barely have enough time tp focus on each series itself.
Thanks for replying Mr. Gibbs. I was wondering if FJ and MBA are connected because in Tyrannosaurus Wrecks, Ms. Weems started wanting to name rockets after dinosaurs names like “Raptor” which shows up in MBA.
KS –
That certainly sounds like it might be a connection.
I diying to read fun jungle 10 and Charlie 5!!!!
Hey Mr Gibbs! It’s been a minute!
What are the odds FunJungle 10 comes out on my 13th birthday?!
I do have a question though; what are your thoughts on starting a new series that just focuses on animals instead of people? (By that I mean the animals are the main characters)
I would really like to see that
-Harry (But I might start going by Cinder. Other question: should I do that?)
Who is your favorite actor?
Harry –
Is your birthday March 24? That’s the release date for Ape Escape.
I will probably not be writing any books that focus on animals instead of people. That has never really appealed to me.
I think you should be free to go by whatever name you want, but I also know that if one of myu children told me they wanted to change their name, I might be a little sad about that. So just know that your parents might be a little sad about it too.
Elliot
Can’t really say that I have an actor that I like more than all the others.
i love your books
