Many people have been asking me about this book over the past few months, so I am happy to finally be able to share some information about it with you. (It took some time for everyone at my publisher to agree on a title and cover.)
Anyhow, here’s the cover, created, as usual, by the amazing Lucy Cummins::
And here’s the synopsis:
When a baby gorilla is stolen from an orphanage in Rwanda, Teddy, his parents, and an old family friend find themselves in a race against time to save it. Teddy has to piece together clues to figure out where the little ape is being taken while traveling through some of the most incredible—and dangerous—terrain in the world.
At the same time, he’s long-distance consulting with Summer to help solve another mystery back at FunJungle. Between facing down lions on the Serengeti and chasing poachers through the bazaars of Zanzibar, will Teddy be able to find the baby gorilla before it’s too late?
The book will be released on March 24, 2026. Although if you would like to preorder it, you can do that by clicking here.

Dear Mr. Gibbs,
In “Tyrannosaurus Wrecks” did you give a nod to the Charlie Thorne Book “Curse of Cleopatra”? Because in “TW” it says, “Sage’s mother’s horse, Cleopatra”
Just curious as it was something I noticed.
~ KS
KS –
I actually named the horse Cleopatra long before I knew I was going to write a CT book about Cleo.
Can you make a spinoff series of FJ?
Abhishek Paul –
I am not planning a spinoff of any of my series at this time. I barely have enough time tp focus on each series itself.
Thanks for replying Mr. Gibbs. I was wondering if FJ and MBA are connected because in Tyrannosaurus Wrecks, Ms. Weems started wanting to name rockets after dinosaurs names like “Raptor” which shows up in MBA.
KS –
That certainly sounds like it might be a connection.
I diying to read fun jungle 10 and Charlie 5!!!!
Hey Mr Gibbs! It’s been a minute!
What are the odds FunJungle 10 comes out on my 13th birthday?!
I do have a question though; what are your thoughts on starting a new series that just focuses on animals instead of people? (By that I mean the animals are the main characters)
I would really like to see that
-Harry (But I might start going by Cinder. Other question: should I do that?)
Who is your favorite actor?
Harry –
Is your birthday March 24? That’s the release date for Ape Escape.
I will probably not be writing any books that focus on animals instead of people. That has never really appealed to me.
I think you should be free to go by whatever name you want, but I also know that if one of myu children told me they wanted to change their name, I might be a little sad about that. So just know that your parents might be a little sad about it too.
Elliot
Can’t really say that I have an actor that I like more than all the others.
i love your books
Just noticing something: There are varying names that people use for you in these comments, including Mr. Gibbs, Stuart Gibbs, Stuart and Gib. (Gib?!) What is your preferred title with fans/commenters, for future reference?
Nico –
People who really care about manners would probably say that, if you are writing to an adult you don;t know, then you should be formal and say ‘Mr. Gibbs.’ But I do list my name in these comments as Stuart Gibbs. ‘Gib’ is not something I have ever used in my life — although, oddly, it is the nickname of Gibson Frasier, who does my audio books.
Hello Mr. Gibbs,
What is your net worth?
Thanks!
Drew –
Asking anyone how much money they make is a very personal question.
Suffice it to say that I make enough money as a writer to take care of my family. Making a good living doing something that I love is a wonderful thing.
I just included the name Gib in there because I saw that someone in the comments called you that. Not that I think you want to or have ever been addressed like that.
Sorry for any confusion over that.
Question: Would you ever want the Funjungle series to be a movie? If so, would you want it to be over 1 book or all of them?
Andrew –
I would like for as many of my books to be turned into movies as possible
Mr. Gibbs,
I am very excited for “Ape Escape”. I love your books so much and I listen to them on audible nonstop. Thank you for putting so much creativeness and talent into your writing, which I know must be difficult. Have a great day!
Anderson –
Thanks for your kind words!
Nice books 🙂
In Panda-monium, are Summer and Teddy’s friends (Dash and Violet) the same characters from the Space Case series?
Raymond –
The characters of Dashiell and Violet in Panda-monium live in the current day and are not siblings; they are friends who are the same age. The characters of Dashiell and Violet in the MBA series are siblings who are six years apart and live in the year 2041. So no, they are not the same characters.
Hi Stuart Gibbs! My name is Oli and i was wondering if you could visit Willow River Elementary In Hudson WI this year in 2025 for our young authors day! I LOVE your books even though i have only am halfway through junlge and space case and finished the whole Spy School book seiries!
P.S. you are my favorite author next is Chris Colfer!
Oli L –
I am very flattered to hear that you have enjoyed my books. However, there is not much left of 2025 so I don’t think I would be able to visit your school.
For anyone who does want me to visit, please direct your teachers to the School Visits page on this website.
Dear Mr. GIbbs,
Your books are swasome(especially the SS series) and I have a few questions! I’m pretty sure the SS movie is cancelled but I just want to check. I was wondering if you were ever going to make another series like any of your book series. And I also was wondering what 6 x 7 + 25 = ?
Suke Lalva
Yes, the SS movie is cancelled — for now. I am still trying to figure out how to get it made though.
I might make another series some day.
As for your math question, the answer is 67. Yes, 67. Everyone’s favorite number these days.
Hey Mr. Gibbs! Love the books, wondering if you could feature Dallas in one of the FunJungle books, its very close to my heart and is in Texas just like Teddy!!
CowboyB
I can’t promise where the FJ series will eventually go. Although Dallas is possible.
Hi Mr. Gibbs I really like your books. I was wondering if you were going to write a 14th SS book? If so do you have a name for it?
Also I really like the plot of SS Blackout.
Maddie –
There will be an SS14. I am not ready to release any details about it, but in the next months I will put up a blog post about that book. All info on upcoming books is listed on every page of this website.
Hi Mr. Gibbs, Do you plan on making more Charlie Thorne books and will the series have a conclusion? Also, what is your process for making books and how do you figure out where the story will go?
Funjungle lover –
I don’t know if there will be more CT books or not. I would like to continue the series but it takes a lot more time to write each of those nooks and they are taking time away from me working on my other series.
For info on how I write, check on the links to Mission: Write on my video page or my writing advice page on this website.
Dear Mr. Gibbs,
I am a huge fan of your books. I would like to ask a few questions.
1) How did you get the idea to write fun-jungle?
2) How many books until the end of the series?
3) What is one thing you would tell all aspiring writers?
4) What book in fun-jungle did you most like writing and why?]
Thank you for your time
NTTBF yay!!
1) The answer to this question can be found on my FAQ page
2) I do not know how many books there will be
3) I have an entire page of writing advice on this website, with a link to a video series with six episodes of writing advice
4) The research for the newest book, Ape Escape, was probably the most fun as it involved going to Africa to see gorillas in the wild
YOU GOT TO SEE ACTUAL GORILLAS.
That is very cool.
I have one more question.
Have you ever been to the CIA headquarters or met anyone who works there?
NTTBF yay!!
Yes, I have been to CIA headquarters and met many people who work there. (If you read the acknowledgements of SSBlackout I talk about this there.)
