HUGE NEWS: New series coming March 2, 2027!

For years, many of you have been asking me if I would ever start a new series.

Well, I’m starting one!

Here’s the cover for it:

And here’s the concept:

Johnny Day is not a good history student. He got a D-minus on his last exam. He can’t even decipher Roman numerals. So when Johnny visits his brilliant aunt at the groundbreaking company where she works, he never expects her to send him back to ancient Rome.

Someone has gone back in time for nefarious reasons — and now, the kid who doesn’t know anything about history is the only one who can save it.
Armed with nothing but his wits and a snarky, sentient computer, Johnny must dodge gladiators, conspiracies and catastrophes as he races to stop a cunning villain before the entire timeline collapses — and our present is wiped out for good.
The book will be available everywhere on March 2, 2027.

  1. Hi Mr Gibbs

I am a huge fan of yours and I want to tell you that wrote some of my fav series behind Keeper of the lost cities and the Interherience games. I am really hoping for a good plot. keep up the good work TT

  2. hey that’s my thing, saying wow. Not even joking I always do it so stop copying meee (says in whiney voice)

  3. Hello,

    One question.
If Erica Hale and Joshua Hallal were to fight against each other, who would win?

    Thanks,
    Joshua

  4. OHH WOWW LETSGOOO I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS ONEE

    Hey, Mr Gibbs!
Because we’re looking at history and time travel here, I’ve got a question for you… With all the amazing civilisations, empires, and kingdoms in history, which one is your absolute favourite?

  5. This book sounds so good I can’t wait to read it. Its amazing that you manage to write so many incredible books every single year, how do you do it?

I did notice that the cover for this book is different from your usual style. I recall you asked to change the original covers of The Last Musketeer and so I was surprised that this cover looks more similar to those of the OG Last Musketeer rather than all of your other cover designs (which are brilliant btw). Is the new cover style an intentional choice or was it not up to you?

P.S. – Can’t wait for the TV show, it made my day to find out it was being made!

  6. I love the charlie thorne series and spy school! Why did you stop the charlie thorne series? I loved the 1-10 spy school books, and spy ski school is my favorite. I have been with spy school and the news for at least 5 years, but I don’t why you had to put LGBTQ+ in it. I think it is a fantastic series, but I can’t suggest the books with LGBTQ+ to other kids, because the parents that I know do not agree with it. I am happy that in the last book you barely mentioned it, but Kids can still put 2 and 2 together. I am excited about the new series, I love history books especially going back in time. I hope it is historically accurate! If you can’t tell by the books that I like, I love math genius books. I was 2 grade ahead of math in school, and it helped me feel connected to the characters. please continue to write these series, and please keep LGBTQ+ out of it. So that I can recommend these series to other parents.

    Thank you!

I haven’t exactly stopped the CT series, but those books take me a lot longer to write than my others and so it is hard to find time to write them.

I added LGBTQ+ to my books because PEOPLE WHO ARE LGBTQ+ EXIST. It seemed morally wrong not to include them. Maybe some day in the future, people won’t have to worry about recommending my books to other people because people have outdated ideas.

  8. Thank you for adding LGBTQ+ characters to spy school. I find it hard to find books with characters like me so thanks. Also will you ever make graphic novel adaptations to any of your other books? – CTforthewin

  9. STheGreat & Stuart Gibbs:

“‘Haven’t you read,’ he replied, ‘that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female and said,
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?
So they are no longer two but one flesh”
    -Matthew 19:4-6

I don’t think people have outdated ideas, so much as they know the everlasting biblical truths that many people choose not to listen to.

That said, I try to overlook the far and few LGBTQ references that Gibbs makes in his books, because I do enjoy his writing.

Right now my publisher is focusing on the GNs for Spy School and Moon Base Alpha. We can’t really handle more adaptations than that at once. After the MBA series is finished, perhaps another series will be adapted.

  11. fouryearloyalreader

I watched Mr Peabody and Sherman to make sure that my series would be completely different.

  12. fouryearloyalreader

Everyone is free to interpret the bible in their own way. For example, I do not read that statement as claiming that only men and women have to be together. Someone else might read that as saying that someone who decides to abstain from relationships at all is wrong.

Given this, there are LOTS of churches and synagogues that support the LGBTQ community.

Plus, everyone picks and chooses the bible passages they want to follow. Like, we all pretty much disregard the ones demanding animal sacrifices these days.

  13. Mr. Gibbs

I laughed when I saw you actually responded to my dumb posts, sorry for making this about deep theological ideas.

Thanks for taking time out of your day to read each and every comment.

Keep up the good work and I look forward to reading your upcoming releases!

I am 16 and still enjoy your books, mainly for nostalgic reasons, as I have been reading your books for a good amount of time now and I have collected most of them. Do you think you might make a series for teenagers/YA at some point? That would be really cool, similar to Alan Gratz’s Horatio Wilkes series (meaning he is mainly a middle grade author and this series is the exception).

  14. Is this going to replace the funjungle series because I noticed that the release date for this book is close to what I expected the next FJ book to be.

    Thanks!

  15. Spy School / FunJungle

This is not going to replace the FJ series. It just means that next spring there will be a Time Crime, rather than an FJ.
