  1. omg if moon base is gonna turn into a graphic novel (or is in the process of being turned into on currenrtly) IM GONNA SCREAMMM. Would it be aryan doing the art?

  2. OMGGGGG I love Spy Ski School I have a signed copy of it this is such a good thing!
Also, Mr Gibbs will you and Anjan try to do all the spy school books as graphic novels?
I think this is a good idea because you can see how you and Anjan make it look when you imagine how people or things look! You ar so amazing!

  3. Literally can’t wait! I’m on Book 6 of the non-graphic novel series(about halfway) and in the graphic novel version of the series I’m on Book 2. I literally can’t wait for another Spy School graphic novel to add to my “I NEED TO READ THIS” list.

  4. I have already read spy school goes wild once and have read the rest of the books twice, so now I’m going to convince my parents to take me to the bookstore to get the GN’s

  5. M –

Yes, it has been a long time. Trust me, no one is aware of how long this has taken more than I am.

  6. Vic Fontaine –

As a writer, I am trying to not write plots where my readers can guess what will happen. I do not consider it an unfortunate situation that you were wrong. I would be much more upset if you had actually guessed the plot.

  7. Gabriel Lorca –

The problem with being friends with Gordon is that it’s nearly impossible to read every one of his 104 books. So no, I have not read that series.

  8. Mr.Gibbs-

I am a HUGE fan of all your books. I would like to know how you outline your books. Do you just write as you go or do you carefully plan them out?

  9. Rohan –

I carefully plan all my books out before i start writing them. I do very detailed outlines.

  10. Hi Mr. Gibbs!

Have you watched the mission impossible series? If you have do you have any favourites from it?

  11. Hello!I’m a big fan of yours and I want to know if Murray Hill will ever date anyone or if Erica Hale ever loses in a hand to hand battle with an enemy.Pls mail this to my account if possible.

  12. Alvin –

Yes, I am very familiar with the M:I series. I think that movies 1, 3, 4, 5 & 6 in that series are all excellent. 7 is not bad. 2 is terrible.

  13. Suhjoon Han –

I can’t reveal what will happen in future books, but I don’t plant to have Erica get disfigured in any way. (That already happened to another character.)

  14. erica –

While some readers might enjoy seeing something from Erica’s POV, I think that most would find it jarring. It is my belief that the reason for the series’ success is Ben’s POV — and that Erica is probably much funnier from his POV than hers. I can’t think of any series that has suddenly shifted to another character’s POV in the middle.

  15. M –

Erica has lost in hand-to-hand battle before. And che has been challenged many times.

  16. Hi Mr Gibbs.
how do you come up with pairing the characters? Like in fun jungle you paired summer and teddy, and in spy school we have Ben and Erica; and Zoe and svetliana (is that how you spell her name?). Do you plan the pair before hand or while writing?

  17. SSpeak –

I just create characters and see what happens between them. I didn;t plan any pairs at first, but as I developed the characters, certain pairings started to make sense.

  18. hi mr gibbs.

why did you choose to do third person view in the charlie thorne series?
you did first person in funjungle, spy school, and MBA series, so why third person in charlie thorne?

  19. PAAS

The decision to use a certain POV depends on the story I want to tell. In my previous series, I felt that the first person perspective of my heroes added something to the story, but with Charlie Thorne, I wanted to show the story from many different perspectives, not justr Charlie’s which required thirs person.

  20. I can’t wait for the Spy Ski School Graphic novel to come out I am a huge fan of your books and have read almost everyone of your entire books that you have written. I have completed SS, FJ, and MBA.

  21. Hi Mr Gibbs thank you for making amazing books your spy school books really got me into reading.

    Thank you

  22. Dear Mr. Gibbs

I am wondering about Zoe. In the first four books, Zoe gave everyone nicknames. For example, Ben is Smokescreen, Erica is Ice Queen, Warren is chameleon. So my question is why does she not do that past book 6? Zoe did mention Ice Queen like twice in the back half of the series. Did she lose interest in nicknames?

I remember you said there were some questions you couldn’t answer as a blog post. I just thought it couldn’t hurt to ask.
    Thank You!
    From, Double O Monkey

  23. Double O Monkey –

Sometimes, it makes sense that Zoe would be referring to someone by their nickname. Sometimes it doesn’t. Lately, it hasn’t made sense.

  24. D –

Dialogue has to sound realistic. People don’t always refer to each other by their names — or nickname. Having someone do that too often might sound unnatural.

  25. mr gibbs

on an average, how long does it take for you to write a spy school book, or charlie thorne book, or funjungle?

  26. Dear Mr.Gibbs
In the first seven books of the SS series, Ben faced an extremely powerful organization which is always one step before Ben and took him seven books to bring it down. In the latest books, the enemies can be destroyed in one single book. I wonder if in future books there would be a organization that is more powerful than Spyder and will take him multipule books to bring it down. Thanks

  27. Mary Hale was an analyst in book 10. Will Ben be more influenced by her and become an analyst?
In MBA, you used dash and violet because of your kids. How did you create all the characters’ names in spy school?
It’s ok if you can’t answer my questions.

  28. Hello Mr. Gibbs,

I was curious to know what was the in your opinion the biggest risk you took with the Spy School series? (eg. bringing back *SPOILER* in SSPX) Or would you say that a lot of the content in each book has been planned out, but do you still think of the overall reader’s reaction to an event/decision?

Thank you and looking forward to getting my hands on the latest SS!

  29. time –

It takes about six months to write the first draft of any book followed by 12-18 months of editing.

  30. K2 8611 –

The main reason that I ended the SPYDEF storyline was that it seemed that it would get repetitive if Ben was always defeating the same organization. So I am not sure that I would create another organization that big and powerful again. But I might.

  31. Gpa Hale –

Ben has really proven himself as a field agent. But Mary’s analysis skills might have an effect on characters in future books.

I was thinking about SS for well over a decade before I wrote it. The character names came to me in all sorts of ways. Erica is short for ‘America’ and the ‘Hale’ was from Nathan Hale. Ben is named after the great scientist / statesman / genius Benjamin Franklin and the great action hero Ellen Ripley. Other characters were named just because i liked the names.

  32. Alvin –

It’s hard to say what the bigest risk I took over 14 years of writing the series might be. I absolutely do think of the reader’s reactions to the decisions I make. I’m not sure how I could write a book and not do that.

  33. Something super cool just happened. I gave chatGPT (an artificial intelligence program) the following instructions:
