New FunJungle mystery now available — in Super Puzzletastic Mysteries!

Hey everyone!

Many of you have been writing to me, saying that you need a great new book to read.  Well I have one for you.

Super Puzzletastic Mysteries is out today.  It has twenty great short stories written by a cavalcade of exceptional Middle Grade authors: folks like Chris Grabenstein, James Ponti, Kate Milford, Lauren Magaziner, Peter Lerangis… and more.  Including a short FunJungle mystery by me.  Grabenstein himself edited them all — and did his usual, excellent job. Some are hilarious.  Some are touching.  And all are wonderful.

And, for extra fun, you get to match wits with these mystery writers.  Like Encyclopedia Brown mysteries, each story challenges you to solve it — before turning to the back of the book to see if you’re right.

  1. Hey, Stu! I was rereading the first Spy School today, when I came across a passage that piqued my interest. “The next five were names I didn’t recognize: Percy Thigpen, Eustace McCrae, Robert Friggoletto, Eleanor Hasket, Xavier Gonzalez.”

    Xavier Gonzalez.

Is this a throwaway line, like how you name-drop your kids into almost every story of yours? Or is this evidence of a … Stuart Gibbs Universe (a Stuniverse, if you will)?

(lol i know you don’t plan on making a crossover anytime soon, but I have my fun)

  2. Stu-

In response to one of my earlier questions, you said that FunJungle is about the size of the San Diego Zoo, but the San Diego Zoo is only about 100 acres. There are much larger zoos by area, even though FunJungle is said to be the largest in the world. This would lead me to assume that the FunJungle series takes place in an alternate universe, or else in the future where a bunch of zoos have been destroyed(which is not likely.)However, Trump’s decision to remove America from the Paris Accord apparently impacts the world in which Spy School takes place. So, Spy School most likely takes place in the future of our universe. I’m not sure if this was deliberate or not. It could have just been a mistake. But according to this logic, the Xavier Gonzalez in Spy School would most likely be a throwaway. Unless he could travel through universes…… but that’s not likely. Is Xavier Gonzalez just the name of someone you know, like Violet and Dashiell?

  3. Benjamin Fitzroy –

Somewhere in Belly Up, I say that the FJ property is 10 square miles, which is actually enormous. But the theme park itself doesn’t take up all that property — yet. That said, are you sure I didn’t say the park was the size of the SD Safari park?

  4. It challenges us to solve the mysteries ourselves? Judging from the crossbones on the top left corner of the cover that doesn’t seem very safe
