Spy School 8 title and cover reveal!

No point in beating around the bush.  Here’s the cover:

Another Lucy Cummins masterpiece!

As for the synopsis, here you go:

Ben Ripley has barely returned to America after defeating SPYDER when someone makes an attempt on his life — at CIA headquarters.  Even worse, the attacker appears to be none other than Erica Hale.

But while the CIA has branded Erica a traitor, Ben believes there must be another explanation for her actions — even if he has to go rogue to find out what it is.  Now, he’ll find himself up against an evil organization that has been working in secret for a very long time — so long, in fact, that Ben will have to track down the files of America’s original spymaster, George Washington himself.

It’s an adventure that will test Ben in ways he’s never been tested before.  An adventure that will jeopardize the lives of the people Ben cares for — and test the loyalties of his friends as well.

As of right now, the publication date is October 6, 2020.  (If you read this post earlier, you will note that the date has moved up a week.  That’s because I care about you, the reader, and didn’t want you to have to wait another seven days.)

All further details are classified.

I am sure that many of you want to know more about the book.  But that’s all I am going to share.  The more you know about a book before you read it, the less fun it is to read.

  1. Coach –

It is extremely common for a woman to keep her married name after a divorce. I know plenty of people who have done it.

  2. Stu,
Thanks! Which Casino Royale? The one with David Niven and Peter Sellers or the Daniel Craig one? Thanks again!

  3. Stu-
Do you read James Patterson books?
Or does James Patterson read your books?

I ask because in his new book Ali Cross. Ali says, “I was reading my new Spy School book . . .” so I was like “hmmmm”. Anyway, figured I’d ask first.

  4. Classified –

The Daniel Craig one. The Peter Sellers one has a few good moments but is mostly terrible.

  5. Ape –

This is the first I have heard of that reference. So maybe James reads my books.

I am friends with Chris Grabenstein who often collaborates with James Patterson, so maybe that’s how that happened?

  6. Is ben still 13 at the start of the new book? because It’s starting to seem really unrealistic that this kid is staying the same age through 8 books. Also is there any way that this series will turn into a more ya genre type because personally I think that would allow a wider range of possibilities for ben and the rest of the cast as they mature. Btw in no means am I throwing hate toward this book series it’s been one of my favorite like ever and has been a large part of my upbringing. So thank you.

  7. Hi Mr. Gibbs!

SS Revolution looks very promising! I’ve been a fan of this series since I was in fourth grade. (I’m a freshman now, which makes me pretty old for your target demographic.) Even so, I really appreciate your writing style and the way your characters interact. I hope to continue to grow up with Ben!

  8. I am sooo excited!! I Love your books!!
But I was wondering are you going to introduce Ben’s parents in any of your books???

  9. Classified –

Ben hasn’t stayed the same age through the entire series. He was twelve when it started. And he is aging appropriately throughout.

It is not going to be come more YA at any point. That would change the series.

  10. BH –

I try to write the books so that everyone can enjoy them, even if they’re not my target demographic. Thanks for your kind words.

  11. BH-
Aye you should join the discord. The ages range from 11-19 so you’d fit right in. Although a majority of us are around 13-16.

  12. Classified,
You stole my name! I’ve had that name on here since 2015! Please change your’s.
    Stu ,
Thanks again for answering my question.

  13. stu-
First of all I am a big fan of all your books. Thanks for taking the time to read this and respond.
Second of all I would like to know if Erica has a fear because if so I think I know what it is.
I promise I won’t post it if you don’t want me to.

  14. Woahhhhh! Thank you so much Mr. Gibbs. This has been long awaited. This sounds amazingggg!!! I refuse to read the synopsis because I don’t want any spoilers, but the cover and title is literally breath-takingly A-W-E-S-O-M-E! I’m so excited!! In the mean time, I am going to read every book you every written to prepare!! Better getting reading!! Peace Mr. Gibbs Sir
P.S. Ik you probably won’t answer, but can you please answer if Ben is going to be on this mission (idk what it is because I won’t read the synopsis till the book comes out) with his friends or is he going to be mostly alone like in Secret Service?

  15. Sorry I’m writing another comment. . . But I can’t help it. A NEW SPY ORGANIZATION!!! I was reading other comments any like woahhh dude. This is actually insane!! This changes what I think the book is going to be. When ever you start a new book, I take notes what I think it is going to be from the comments and things, and write what I think the books going to be about!! This is going to be like completely insane!! So cool Mr. Gibbs!

  16. -Aiden

Because we assume the guy is Ben, and that’s he’s already decked in a trench coat gives a sense of irony once your 50 pages in to the first. That’s at least what I feel. Also, to clear up any confusion, I am Aidan, and have nothing to do with Aiden. Maybe I could change my name to @id@n

  17. What are the words behind Ben? are they like part of the constitution, or whatnot. sorry if it’s a stupid question, it’s I kind cursive.

  18. Mr. Stuart!
Can you make the spy school series parallel to the FunJungle series? That would be cool! I love your books and it would be cool if you made the two series have the same timeline. In the next book, can you put something about Teddy accusing Buck and Martin del Gato? Your one of my heroes, so could you make that wish come true for me? Please? That would be a good cliff hanger! And I know a good cliff hanger!
Remember to make that jigsaw puzzle go together if your having trouble with something.
    Thanks for your time!
    Jason Martelino.

  19. Aiden –

A trench coat is a very traditional outfit for a spy. Ever heard the term ‘cloak and dagger’ to refer to espionage? The trench coat is the cloak.

  20. Jason M –

It is very hard to make the timelines of both series line up exactly, so I can’t really promise to do that.

And I can’t take suggestions from readers. I am already plotting out new stories and, frankly, Buck and Martin Del Gato’s storylines are done.

  21. Wait I know who the new organization is… It’s the ITGA (The International Tulip Growers Association) ?

  22. very imaginative person-
I wouldn’t be too certain…Stu’s plots are anything but predictable.

  23. Yeet –
Don’t tell me you’re going to eat the book?

And I highly doubt that the organization Benjamin will be facing is one that we’ve heard of. Most likely, it will be something entirely new.

  24. -Stu
I am a spy school fan and just wanted to ask if you can make the publication date a little earlier. Spy school is my favorite series and I can’t stop reading them for some reason. I can’t wait until spy school 8 comes.

-A student who loves your series

  25. Stu-
But I am not sure if you mean I can post my theroy about Ericas fear or don’t. If you could clarify that would be great.
    PS. -Me again
I highly doubt that Erica is arachnophobic.

  26. Stu-

Hi, Mr Stuart! I am a Spy School fan. I love reading Spy School and I just can’t stop! I just wanted to ask if you could make the publication date a little earlier. I just can’t wait until Spy School revolution comes out. It would be EPIC! Spy School is my favorite series and I read every single book. Thank you for making the series

    – The Spy School that is currently 9 years old .

  27. Everyone talking about Erica’s fears,
My personal guesses for her fears are, chorophobia, the fear of dancing, triskadeckaphobia, the fear of the number 13 and anything involving it,and claustrophobia, the fear of being in small and/or tight spaces. Personally,I have triskadeckaphobia and slight claustrophobia.
