Here’s the cover — and title — of Spy School 7!

Well, this has been quite a week for exciting news.  First the movie deal for Spy School.  Then the release of the Top Secret Spy School box set.  And today Spy School hit the New York Times bestseller list again.

Plus, I still have that series info to divulge.  Sorry I haven’t done that yet.  My publisher told me I would be able to do it soon — and yet they still haven’t made their big announcement yet.  Which is as frustrating to me as it probably is to you.

But maybe this will tide you over.  I just found out from a post on my own website that my publisher has released the new cover on Amazon and Goodreads.  Which means that it’s not a secret any more and I can share it.

So, here’s the cover:

Amazing, isn’t it?  Yet another masterpiece by Lucy Cummins.

(I know a lot of you figured out this was the title a few days ago because it was leaked on Google somehow.  But I couldn’t confirm it because I still wasn’t sure that the tile and cover would work.  Now, it’s obvious that they do.)

Here’s a synopsis:

Superspy middle schooler Ben Ripley is finally going to take SPYDER down, once and for all in this latest addition to the New York Times bestselling Spy School series.

Stranded in Mexico after nearly capturing the leaders of SPYDER, thirteen-year-old Ben Ripley desperately needs to take a shower. But even more so, he and his spy school friends need to come up with a new plan to defeat their enemies, their only clue a key that opens…something.

The Mission: Go rogue from the CIA, join up with the British MI6 to locate the leader of SPYDER, the enigmatic Mr. E, and bring down the evil organization once and for all.

Only it won’t be easy. They’ll have to deal with rival evil splinter factions, devious double-crosses and learning to drive on the opposite side of the road. But they have no other choice: this is their last and final chance to crack the code on SPYDER.

As usual, this is all I’m going to share about the book.  Because answering any more questions about it will ruin the fun of reading it.  So please don’t ask me any questions about SS7. If you do, I will simply refer you right back to this page and ask you to read the whole thing again.

It comes out May 7, 2019.  That’s less than a year away.  less time than you normally have to wait for a Spy School book.

UPDATE:  Even though I said no questions, at least a dozen people have written to me with the exact same question, so I’m going to answer it to make this clear: THIS IS NOT THE LAST BOOK IN THE SERIES.

If Ben and his friends defeat SPYDER (and I’m not saying they will) why would that end the series?  There are lots of other potential bad guys out there.

  1. In the first book, when Ben was trying to remember what the principal had done when Ben insulted him, Erica promised him a hug but didn’t say when. Will Ben ever get his well-earned hug?

  2. Stu-
Did the principal get his new room yet? I remember he had a closet for his room until recently, but it wasn’t mentioned in the later books

  3. stu-

for spy ski school i just went skiing but got lost on a black diamond and IT WAS HARD!!
and i have never skied before!

  4. Hey Stu-

Big fan of your books. I was wondering though: why does every girl Ben that meets like him? Is it because he’s got a good personality or he’s cute, or is it a combination of both?

  5. Stu-

Are you ever going to reveal what was blacked out in the letters at the beginning and end of each Spy School book?

  6. Chloe –

Ben attracts women because he is very smart and very capable and he has a great personality. I wanted readers to realize that those things matter a lot.

  7. Mary –

Because Ben’s parents aren’t even supposed to know that Ben is at spy school. So any scenes i have ever considered writing with them didn’t feel important to the story.

  8. Mr. Gibbs and Julia,

But you write things under the black right? I got Evil spy school and spy camp on kindle version and if you highlight the word under the black, the word and definition comes up. At least for one of them. So you do write something, right?

  9. Finally got around to reading SSGS, and I LOVED it. Had me on the edge of my seat as I read it all in one shot. This series is great, and I hope you never stop writing it, Stu! I really enjoyed how you addressed the whole love triangle between Zoe, Erica, and Ben (it’s not really a main focus of the series for me, but Zoe and Ben’s relationship feels very genuine to me, has been from the start, but that’s just my opinion), characters in general are very well fleshed out in your series. Just some other tidbits I want to comment on:

    – The hotel setting was great.
    – Murray can never make up his mind, I think he’s burned all his bridges at this point given how many people he’s betrayed.
    – It was interesting to see this side of Zoe this book, being more open about her feelings, lashing out at times. Hope to see her remain actively involved in future installments of this series, she’s one of my favorite characters (in case I haven’t make it obvious already).
    – Has Ben improved as a fighter? Granted, he only beat Warren, but it’s something.
    – Ben driving the ATV at the end was simply amazing.
    – You made a lot of great points as usual in regards to the issues with being a spy. Would Erica really sacrifice Ben for the mission? Is Zoe right in saying that she’s too cold and manipulative?
    – I’m surprised that Catherine was able to evade even Cyrus’s watchful eye when it came to her spy status.

While I did end up making the mistake of accidentally clicking on a synopsis of SSBI before, fortunately SSGS did not end with Ben getting stranded in the middle of nowhere with no backup like I thought he would.

Not to mention, I always mentally prepare myself for the unexpected when it comes to your books, but I still manage to get caught off guard all the time. Excellent job keeping us readers on our toes. Anxiously awaiting SSBI now.

Sorry to hear about your wife, Stu, glad to know you’re still writing. Just remember that us fans are always here to support you! 😀

  10. I honestly prefer Ben and Zoe together, just because:

    A) It’s clear now that they reciprocate each other’s feelings, not much point in hiding it. (Based on Ben’s confession at the end, but the part about jealously and tension building within the team as a result could be a hurdle to overcome)

    B) Zoe’s always had Ben’s best interests at heart, a true friend from the start. Their relationship feels a lot more genuine.

On the contrary, Erica is just going to be passive about her own feelings and do whatever it takes to keep their relationship platonic, and has constantly manipulated him for her own benefit (but at the same time, saved his life more times than we can count at this point), while only showing minimal signs of affection. It will forever be in Erica’s nature to not involve herself in any type of relationship, likely because of her own family’s dysfunction.

  11. Erika –

I only write things that will give an idea of how long the blacked out space should be. They were never meant to be read by anyone.

  12. bookworm8 –

I would be torn between whether Erica or Zoe was best for Ben, as both have their positive qualities.

  13. SS Fan –

I’m just inspired and enjoy writing them. That said, the close release dates of SSGS and SSBI had more to do with a three book release schedule this year.

  14. Stu- I just wanted you to know that I really love your books and that they have been the only books I have ever really liked. Your books are what’s keeping my English grade an A. I just wanted to thank you for writing those books. Also I can’t wait till the next one!!!

  15. I think there needs to be a little more romance with Ben and Erica but please don’t hurt Zoe feelings. And next time please don’t make all of your books a cliff hanger. And Cyrus Hale needs to go easy on Alexander Hale

  16. You are my favorite author.I have read all of your books. I got to go to your tyson’s corner spy school secret service event and get my book signed and ask a question.Below I have 2 more.
    1. Are you going to do a collectors edition of spy school british invasion
2.Will you come to tysons corner ,VA again
Thank you for all your amazing books

  17. bookworms aren’t gross –

There will be a collector’s edition of SSBI.

I hope to return to Tysons Corner again soon. Or Washington DC at least.

  18. Logan –

I can’t include every character I have ever created in every book. So I am not sure if Tina or any other character might come back. I only bring back characters who are necessary to the story.

  19. You’reMyFavAuthor-
Oh man, I’d completely forgotten about Erica’s promise to hug Ben! I hope he forgot too. So then when she does hug him everyone will be caught off guard, and that’ll be epic as usual xD

  20. Stu I just really hope that you do because I really loved when she was in the story because she was more of a good person rather than Hank when they first met. I really hope after British Invasion that you make one in Canada.

  21. Stu- I am very pumped to see that you are doing spy school in different countries now because now we get to learn more about how sometimes. Like when Tina was like I want to go somewhere dangerous but didn’t want to go to Vancouver because it was so safe. Now they go in different countries. P.S sorry for this being so long

  22. Yeah Ethan is very smart and he brought a very good point like maybe Erica and Ben are realities by a weird way and that’s how he got recruited and she actually trusts home.

  23. Logan, Mary, Ethan, the lunar module-

Stu had made it very clear in previous comments to readers that Ben and Erica are NOT related. This is just a coincidence he did not know about.

Plus, if they were related that would suck because that would mean they couldn’t “date” of whatever.

  24. Stu –

In ESS and SS, Ben mentioned Dirk the Jerk, and in ESS, he beat him up. But why is he renamed to Trey Patterson in SSS?

  25. I really wonder what everyone thinks of mike at the old school because he made fun of Ben for going to the “Science School” but now he goes there.
